APPLICATIONS

• An application is a logical container for all of the objects, tabs processes and services associated with a given business function.

• An app is a group of tabs that work as a unit to provide functionality

• We can customize existing app to match the way to work, or build new apps by grouping standard and custom tabs.

•  A force.com custom app consists of a name a description an ordered list of tabs, and optionally a custom logo and landing page.

Salesforce provides standard apps

                         Marketing

                        Community

• User can switch between apps using the force.com app drop-down menu at the top right corner of every page.

• Two types of applications

1. Custom App
2. Service cloud console

Creating a custom Application;-

                                              New button

step1;- select the type of the application to create and click on "Next" button

Step2;-Enter a label for the application a name, and a description, and then click the "Next" button

Step3;- optionally select an image to be displayed as the logo for our application. This image is shown in the upper left corner when our application is active

TIP;- To prepare an image for use as an application logo first go to the documents tab and click the new button check the Externally Available image checkbox, enter a name to identify the image and click the Browse button to locate a file on your computer click the save button to upload the image

Step4;- select the tab which you want to display on application.

Step5;- Select the profile  which this custom app will be visible in force.com menu.

Step6;- click the "Save" button
